2010 Keystone State Championships
The 2010 Keystone State Martial Arts Championships were held
April 17 at Southern Lehigh High School. Martial arts
schools from all over Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey
representing various styles such as Kung Fu, Karate, Taekwondo,
Kenpo and Tang Soo Do competed in Sparring, Forms and Breaking.
Eastern Defensive Arts Academy members placed well in this
event.
- Master Sierralyn DelRosario Snisky won 2nd in breaking. 3rd in
forms
- Lorry Filson won 1st in forms. 2nd in sparring.
3rd in breaking.
- Darren Fitzgerald won 1st in Sparring. 2nd in Forms.

"Block
of Class" Tuition Option
I’ve recently had an opportunity to talk to several members
and their families expressing their thoughts about monthly
tuition and the times when they or their child miss classes due
to illness, holiday closings, sports and vacation travel.
Looking at the attendance cards, the vast majority of our
members attend classes 5 to 7 times a month. With that in mind,
I am adding a new tuition option for your membership here at
Eastern Defensive Arts Academy. This new membership is much more
valuable, flexible and accommodating to your personal
attendance. This is just another option which may save you some
money in the long run. You may absolutely stay with your current
membership if it works for you.
The “Block of Class” membership allows you to purchase
classes in 60, 100 and 300 class blocks. In essence, you are
paying for the classes that you actually use. When you take time
off for illness, work, vacations, or holidays you are not
‘paying’ for those inactive periods. Also, the block of classes
that you purchase may be used by
all the members of your family, in any and all of our
programs!
Is the “Block of Class” option right for you? Here is
just one actual member profile that demonstrates how this option
may benefit you. The name was changed to give the actual member
some privacy...
1) Junior Member Chris is currently on the 12 month
term membership. Over the past year he is averaging 5 classes a
month. Based on his attendance history, Chris is actually
experiencing a class cost of $22.40 a class. At his attendance
level, it would take him 12 months to complete 60 classes. If he
was on the 60 class block membership, he would realize a savings
of $204! If he chose the 100 class block he would save $540 over
those 100 classes. And if he chose the 300 class block, he
would see a savings of $1800! So if his attendance stays as it
is, the block of classes really saves his family quite a bit.
